I’ve been wanting to convert all of my light bulbs to the latest LED technology for a few years, but the cost was prohibitive — until now. In a perfect example of how public-private sector cooperation can go right, EnergyStar (a pet project of the U.S. Dept. of Energy) and your local electric utility have partnered to make LED light bulbs affordable. LED uses up to 70% less energy and emits just as much less heat. It took me an entire weekend, but at these prices, I switched every bulb in my house! You might want to hurry though, as the new administration’s energy policy might reverse this agenda. Check for local deals here.
