Sunday Question

We’re going to take a break midway through our series, “A Forgotten Hero of the American Revolution: Juan de Miralles and the Relationship between Spain and the United States” for our Sunday Question.  If you haven’t had a chance to read the first two entries of the series you can start here.

The American Revolution is one of the more inspiring and exciting chapters in world history. Scrappy, poorly trained and equipped colonial troops revolt against and defeat a superpower. There are quite a few heroes in this story, which brings us to our Sunday Question.

Outside of George Washington, who would you consider the most important figure during the American Revolution?

For me, the answer starts well before a shot was fired. It is John Locke, whose political philosophy shook empires and monarchs.  His ideas, not only acted as a catalyst for American rebellion but are also the foundation of the government that followed.

We will continue tomorrow with Part 3 of the series.
